Genuinely having a time my dudes

On the tv at work (I don't watch local/national news on purpose because its so biased, yes even here) they're still talking about the isreal/gaza war. (Bias alert, war implies both sides are fighting. Gaza is a city with no military. This is isreal/hamas at best, but should be classified as a genocide as it meets all requirements of a genocide)

But the misinformation and clear bias the news outlets are feeting the public isn't even the kicker here. Yesterday there was discussions of peace where both sides live in harmony.

I'm literally being sucker punched into about 15 years ago when the discussion of having the lgbts living peacefully alongside the homo/transphobes was happening. If one side wants peace and the other side wants the first group dead, there cannot ever be peace! We've seen this so many times in history, and it never work! Islamophobes will never live alongside Muslims, nazis will never live alongside jew, rasists will never live alongside people of colour, transphobes cannot live alongside trans and non binary people. Christians cannot live alongside any other religion.

Past performance IS and indicator of future results when it happens Every. Single. Time. Insanity is doing the same thing over amd over and expecting a different result. People with hate in their heart cannot be trusted to live peacefully.

If you want a good object lesson about what we can and can't know about the past, we don't know Ea-Nasir was a dishonest merchant selling shoddy goods.

What we know is we have found a cache of complaint tablets about him selling low quality copper as high quality, in a site that was probably his own residence. We know multiple people complained he was a cheat. It's entirely possible they were right. It's also entirely possible that he kept these complaint letters as records of people he would no longer do business with, because they had made accusations and threats in order to bully him into giving them free copper. That is an equally valid interpretation of the evidence.

My point is not that we have maligned Ea-Nasir, my point is that thousands of years later, we do not and cannot know.
